Sometimes I'm funny... sometimes I'm not.

I've taken almost a year off from the blog because I'd just run out of funny.  I know that sounds crazy, but it's true.  This past week, however, some friends inspired new "hey girls" and I thought I'd share them here.

It's been funny to see the old ones re-posted on blogs and facebook pages over the last few months.  I had even forgotten writing some of them!  I'm glad they made people laugh.  Sometimes we need to laugh, just like we need to bead or make beads, to escape the reality for a while.

Today has been a somber day in the news and I hesitated posting at first, but like I said... sometimes we need the smile on days that are the least funny....

Zombies have invaded

So, after posting pictures of the new Head Over Heels Zombie girl on Facebook and my other blog, I've been flooded with emails saying "I'm not going to Bead and Button, so how do I get one??"

Here's the answer... I will bring home any remaining kits and will fill orders from people who preordered via PayPal (more on that in a minute). THEN I will start making more to fill additional preorders and after that, I will make more and add the kit to the website. I'm only planning on making 75 kits all together, but my need to pay bills might make me increase this to a number that fills orders through October... No promises)

Based on initial reaction, I honestly don't expect to come home with any of the kits (I'm only taking 20 and several of those are already reserved for preorders) so I expect that I will be making more when I get back to fill the PayPal preorders and they will be ready mid to late June (I won't be back till the 12th so late June is realistic If I give myself a day or two off.)

So... Here's the deal with preorders... If you would like to order a Zombie girl kit at the Bead and Button price of $150 (price will be $175 after the show) you need to put a $50 deposit down on your kit by Sunday, the last day of the show. To do this. Go to Paypal.com and send $50 to sylvie@sylviebeads.com. Include all your contact info in the notes section.

I will fill the orders in order of receipt and will let you know an expected date of delivery after the show when I know if there are any kits left. When your kit is ready, I will send you a PayPal invoice for the balance. Once received, I will send your kit to you!

A VERY important word from Sylvie...

Tucson Bead customers...and friends of bead show customers... If you purchased from me at the Best Bead Show in Tucson on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, PLEASE contact me.  There was a glitch in processing and the credit card purchases were never really processed and numbers were not saved in the system to re-process them. This means, that as of right now, if you used a credit or debit card, your sale wasn't actually paid for.  I'm sorry for the hassle, but I need you to contact me so that I can re-do the charge.  I apologize for the inconvenience. I'm posting this everywhere that my customers might read, so if you know someone who bought in Tucson... ask them to read it as well. I need your help!!!

I'm headed to Tucson in a few days where I will be exhibiting and teaching.  I'm doing TWO shows this year, which means I'm extremely swamped preparing and packing.

Want to help lighten the load???  Send me a "hey girl" of your very own.  I'll pick 5 of them to feature next week.  You pick the hunk... you write the text.  I'll add the silly tags.  No prize this time, just bragging rights. 

The particulars...

1.  Keep it PG-13.  If it makes me blush, I probably won't post it!
2.  Keep it around 500 pixels wide in 72dpi
3.  Make the text in a font that's clear and easy to read (helvetica, verdana, etc.)
4.  Make it funny!
5.  Send it to sylviebead @ yahoo. com  (leave out the spaces)

Hey girls!!

It's that time of day... time for me to interrupt the eye-candy for "important" announcements.

Today's announcement is that we HAVE A WINNER!!!

Ya'll sent in some FUNNY stuff for the "Hey girl" for ME contest.  I know that Mr. Benrubi was a challenge, but you rose to the occasion and some of you CRACKED me up!  

The winner of the challenge was the very prolific Eva, who sent in 3 entries and ALL of them were super funny, but this one just tickled my funny bone, because it was JUST silly enough AND close to home-enough to be perfect for ME.

Eva wins her choice of a $10 Starbucks or Amazon gift card AND one of my PDF patterns that are on sale this month!!!  (I'll email you with details, but they're listed a few entries down in the blog)

Hey girls!!

It's that time of day... time for a word from me.  :)

First of all, thank you for all your fun comments and emails.  It really is nice knowing that I'm making you laugh till you spit your drinks on your computer screens....that said,  I can't afford to fix them, so please be careful!!

I keep hoping the funny doesn't run out and I still have something to post each day, but as you can tell, I'm sort of rationing them now... I have some "back-orders" of special requests, but I could always use more.  It seems the funniest things come from having to fit a bead-hunk in with the interests of the person sending a bribe.  It DOES help to know if you're a lampworker, beader, metal-smith, etc. when you send a request, so add that too if possible.

Thank you for your entries in the first Hey Girl contest... I'm getting a kick out of reading them!!  Remember, you have until Friday, midnight EST to get your entry in.  (If you don't know about the contest, look at yesterday's posting)
